Elements and Performance Criteria
- Determine job requirements
- Comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with SOPs
- Identify job requirements from specifications, drawings, job sheets or work instructions
- Identify and analyse defects in tooling
- Plan sequence of maintenance operations
- Disassemble and assess tooling components
- Replace/recondition worn/damaged parts
- Manufacture/repair and assemble tooling components
- Select and use appropriate hand and hand held power tools
- Choose appropriate machining process from a range of standard tool room machines
- Set machining parameters to produce components to specification
- Initiate heat treatment according to specification, where appropriate
- Check tooling components and assemble in conformance with specifications and procedures
- Check production components to ensure compliance to specifications, as required
- Identify potential production/ maintenance problems
- Identify recurrent faults and initiate solutions
